THE MEDICINAL USE OF ALUM

The common use of alum are coagulation in water treatment, treatment for cracked heels, canker sores, washing of slime, shaving, and treatment of mouth odor. Most of us hence think there is no use for alum beyond this. The truth is there are much of hidden medicinal values in that crystal we would ignore when it comes to medicinal benefit. Alum has been in use since the ancient time for varieties of uses. Commercially, it is sold in blocks or fine powder.

1. TREATMENT OF CANKER SORES.

A pinch of powdered Alum is pressed over the canker sore. There comes the sting feeling for a while and in approximately 24 hours the patient will have got relieved of canker sores. Though, loathe alum powder especially young children always find it unappealing to bear the burns caused by alum. To treat mouth sore the use alum water not so conc. to rinse the mouth is a reliable treatment.

HOW TO MAKE ALUM WATER TO RINSE MOUTH

i. Make the alum into fine powder with the use of mortar and pestle.

ii. Boil water in a pot and add little salt and wait till the salt get dissolve. Know that if your added salt is too much it will take a considerably long time for it to get dissolved.

iii. When the salt has got dissolved add the alum.

iv. Use it 2 -3 times per day to rinse your mouth.

Please do not in case of any treatment swallow solid alum.

2. ALUM FOR TREATMENT OF EYE ABSCESS

To treat eye abscess with alum, with little water get alum rubbed on

sandalwood stone. Make sure you rub it nicely so as to get a paste. This paste which often sting is quiet effective when applied. Amazingly, the boil get break on the day of application.

3. ALUM USED FOR WATER PURIFICATION

Alum property to coagulate has being known for ages. it is used to purify water by getting all sediment sink to the base of the container and as well virtually attracting each other. This made it easy to get the water decanted of pollutant.

4. ALUM IS USED FOR SHAVING.

Alum has been quiet for long be used as an after shave treatment. Though, it at first seems not ideal because it made skin on which it is applied dry but after some time of use you will prefer it over some pharmaceutical after-shave. To apply, after shave get an alum block rubbed on your face, you can later wash it or leave it till you take your bath.

5. ALUM USED AS A DEODORANT

Due to its anti-bacterial and antiseptic property it is quiet use as deodorant. To make deodorant with alum, get alum powder and mix it with little myrhh and use it as dusting powder. It is better not to use it daily but other day.

6. ALUM USE FOR TREATMENT OF CRACKED HEELS.

For this treatment get alum heated in a small vessel, in the process it becomes liquefied and foams, when all the water has got evaporated, what is left is crumbly mixture. Let it get cool and therefore powdered it and get it mixed with coconut oil and apply it on the leg.
