HOW TO ADD A PASSWORD TO YOUR WI-FI

For many reason wireless home connection is preferred over other means of connection, but if not provided with a good password great is the tendency that it could be open to malicious attacks and people who could be able to discover your Wi-fi are liable to used up the internet you paid for.
Therefore setting a strong password makes your Wi-fi reliable, fortunately setting a password is quiet easy.
I simply provide the guides below in order.
1.     Access the router of your wireless provider. You can awesomely carry out this step with your setup disc which came with your router; dually, designation of routers enabled them to be accessed remotely through the internet.
To simply access your router with the aid of your web browser, enter the address URL. Example of router address is 192.172.0.4, and 192.172.3.4
i.                    If through a computer that is connected to the router through an Ethernet cable you can access the router. Suppose you access it through the Wi-Fi, you will automatically get logged out whenever you changed the settings, so you will need to reconnect to the network to re-login in order to make any adjustment.
ii.                  In most cases the default username and password of routers is “admin” for both fields. Suppose this doesn’t work, then try again and this time leave one field blank and type admin into the other. If both cases fail you therefore need to consult your specific router manufacturer.
iii.                If it happened that you have changed your access password before and can’t remember it, just simply restore your router to factory settings by press and hold of the Reset button. This will wipe out your settings.
iv.               Suppose you no longer have access to your original documentation, check your router’s model online to find the IP address and the login details.
2.     You need to know your Wi-fi security settings. This is quiet or better said often different for routers, nevertheless, it is in common located in “wireless Settings” or “Security Settings”. If there is difficulty in finding this label, therefore enter your router’s model number into an internet search and follow the guide on how to access the security settings.
3.     Choose an encryption type. In general, routers have few options available in case of security. You can select from WEP,WPA2-PSK or WPA-PSK(personal). If possible choose WPA2 for its encryption is the most secure available for wireless networks; well, if your router is an older one is not sure you will have this option.
Older routers doesn’t have this option that enables them to connect to network that uses WPA2, lest you are using older multiple devices you need to attach to your network.
4.     Select AES algorithms for WPA2-personal. If you provided with option, choose AES as your encryption algorithm in case of WPA2 security. Other option,TKIP, is old and less secure.
AES mean Advance Encryption Standard which is best set of algorithm presently available for wireless encryption.
5.     Provide your passphrase and SSID. SSID being the name of the network and the passphrase is entered by any device that is connected to the SSID.
Let your password be a combination of letters, symbol and numbers. The more elementary your password protection is the more chanced you are to being guessed and your Wi-fi get access un-authorize. If you need help there are password generators online.
6.     Refresh your router after you have saved your settings. Click on the apply or Save button on your Wireless Settings page so as to save your new wireless security settings. In most router refresh is done automatically, hence, all devices connected to the network wirelessly will be logged out they therefore need to login again.
Say, your router does not automatically refresh, you therefore need to set it manually by switch it off for 1 minute. Turn it on to let it run through its boot cycle it will become evidently done when the lights on the front are done flashing.
Don’t forget to add your new login password to all devices that access your wireless internet connection. To be more secure it is wise to change your password twice in every year.
